The struggle of learning to read for so many is real, AND so are the victories! Today we left Sloane’s reading lesson feeling victorious! Observing Sloane and her reading specialist work together is priceless.
We love our sweet Sloane unconditionally! Her older sister is her biggest cheerleader too!

At the end of fourth grade, our daughter faced significant reading challenges and was diagnosed with dyslexia, reading at a second-grade level entering fifth grade. A 504 plan was implemented at school, and we were introduced to Mrs. Angela Eddy, a recommended reading teacher and tutor. Despite initial reluctance, Seraphina's attitude towards tutoring changed as Mrs. Eddy's warm and engaging approach made sessions enjoyable. Weekly meetings and intermittent testing showed undeniable progress, boosting Seraphina's reading comprehension from multiple grades below to just a few months behind. As she entered sixth grade, her ELA teacher, unaware of the 504 plan, praised Seraphina's attributes and academic performance. Mrs. Eddy continued to target fluency improvement, adapting sessions even during summer. Mrs. Eddy's keen observation led to the identification of a potential eye issue, and Seraphina was diagnosed with convergence disorder. Mrs. Eddy facilitated accessible and effective vision therapy, including the 4D Vision Gym program. Seraphina's reading endurance markedly improved, and today, she enjoys reading in ways she couldn't before. We attribute much of Seraphina's progress to Mrs. Eddy's persistence, generosity, and professionalism.
