At Reading Visions, we are committed to making reading accessible and enjoyable for learners of all ages, especially those who are just beginning their reading journey or encountering challenges. Angela, a recently retired teacher, has a proven track record of helping students make significant grade-level progress in both small group and individual settings within a year.

While Angela cannot practice as a vision therapist in New York State without the direct supervision of an optometrist, she brings a unique approach to the table. She is skilled at screening for vision issues that may be hindering the growth of reading skills. By identifying and addressing these issues, Angela lays the foundation for her students' success.
In collaboration with 4D Vision Gym in Connecticut, a trusted and specialized vision therapy provider, Angela ensures that those in need of vision therapy receive the best care available. Through this partnership, Angela can connect her clients with the necessary vision therapy services to complement her teaching.

Reading Tutoring
Embark on a transformative journey to reading excellence with Angela's integrated approach. Our reading tutoring program is meticulously designed to empower individuals of all ages, fostering both confidence and proficiency in the art of reading. Angela goes above and beyond by conducting 3 or 4 assessments before commencing instruction, tailoring her approach to each student's unique needs. These assessments cover essential skills such as word identification, letter-sound knowledge, phoneme segmentation, nonsense word reading, and alphabetic principles, providing a crucial starting point and establishing a baseline for progress monitoring. Our experienced tutors, under Angela's guidance, create a supportive and engaging learning environment, igniting a love for reading while addressing specific areas of improvement. Vision Screening
Components of Our Vision Therapy Screening:

Eye Movements (3 Subtests): Angela assesses the fluidity and precision of eye movements, critical for smooth and efficient reading.

Developmental Eye Movement (2 Subtests): Delving deeper, this evaluation focuses on the developmental aspects of eye movements, providing insights into foundational skills.

Visual Motor Coordination (1 Test): Our screening examines various aspects of visual motor coordination, ensuring a holistic understanding of the connection between vision and motor skills.

Focusing (1 Test): Angela evaluates the ability to focus, a crucial skill for sustained attention during reading tasks.

Eye Teaming (2 Subtests): This assessment explores the coordination between the eyes, essential for depth perception and binocular vision.
Evaluation Metrics:
The screening results are presented through a range of metrics, including pass/fail indicators, age equivalents, percentiles, standard scores, and grade equivalents. These metrics offer a comprehensive understanding of an individual's current visual and reading capabilities.
Observations:
In addition to the quantitative metrics, Angela provides valuable qualitative observations. These insights offer a nuanced understanding of the individual's behaviors and responses during the screening, contributing to a holistic profile.
Next Steps:
Based on the screening results, Angela tailors her approach. If necessary, she can refer individuals to our trusted partners at 4D Vision Gym in Connecticut for specialized vision therapy. Alternatively, Angela may incorporate targeted strengthening games alongside her personalized reading instruction to address identified areas of concern.
